Kim Kardashian, Orlando Bloom Raise Funds for Haiti Relief
Two years removed from the catastrophic earthquake which ravaged the Caribbean country, Haiti relief continues to be a focus for numerous Hollywood stars.
Marking the second anniversary of the devastating events, stars such as Sean Penn, Kim Kardashian, Orlando Bloom, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio and Hilary Swank gathered at the Montage Hotel in Los Angeles for a Cinema for Peace Haiti relief fundraising event.
With raised cash going to Penn's J/P Haitian Relief Organization, other famous faces showing their support included Demi Moore, Rumer Willis, Salma Hayek, Mel Gibson, Petra Nemcova, Felicity Jones and Soleil Moon Frye.
Talking with press about what it is that Haiti needs most right now, Soleil opined, "A true chance at rebuilding. Also, assistance with the rubble removal is key. People can't start rebuilding until the rubble is gone. The country also needs medical and educational support. All of the everyday things we take for granted — brushing our teeth, drinking clean water, taking a bath or shower, having a meal to eat — these are the privileges that few Haitians enjoy."
Miss Frye added, "It's also important to give that support in a way that honors their dignity, helping them stand on their own two feet. Whether helping in little or big ways, every effort counts. It can be a card that touches a child's life, a $5 donation or even a trip down to Haiti to volunteer. But do your homework first. Know where the money is going. I know first-hand that the check I write to J/P HRO will be used to support their incredible work."
